Congratulations to Sophie, age 9, and Charlotte, age 4, who are the winners of our Summer Poster Competition!

Well done to everyone who entered! The Parish Councillors were impressed by all the designs, which made choosing a winner at Monday’s Parish Council meeting very difficult!

Sophie & Charlotte’s posters will be turned into signs for us to display on the MUGA at East Park Farm, and around the village, to discourage littering. Keep your eyes out for them over the coming weeks

At Monday’s Parish Council meeting, Councillors took a first look at the results from our Pulse Survey. Thank you to everyone who responded.

• 68.5% of respondents have lived in Charvil for over 10 years
• 74.2% of people scored the village 4 or 5 out of 5 for cleanliness
• 57.3% scored the village 4 or 5 out of 5 for safety

The key issues raised included:

• Dog waste on the green spaces
• Public bins and the bottle banks
• Speeding

There were also a number of ideas for improving and increasing the facilities around the village. Over the next few months we’ll be looking at these results in more detail, liaising with partner agencies about some of the issues raised and using the results to help steer our conversations on improving Charvil.

Regulation 16

Let us know your views on the Charvil Neighbourhood Plan.

Charvil Parish Council has prepared a Neighbourhood Plan with the help of the local community. This sets out planning policies to guide the development and use of land in the parish up to 2040.

Wokingham Borough Council are now undertaking a six week consultation (Regulation 16) on the submitted plan, from Monday 1 September to 5pm on Monday 13 October 2025.

• by post to Planning Policy and Infrastructure Team, Wokingham Borough Council offices, Shute End, Wokingham, RG40 1BN

Alternatively you can simply send us your comments to either of the two contact addresses above. Responses may include a request to be notified of any future council decision to adopt the plan.

Following the consultation, all comments received will be sent to an independent examiner who will consider whether the plan meets the necessary requirements to proceed to referendum and potential adoption.

We’re delighted to announce that The National Lottery Community Fund is giving Charvil Parish Council £20’000 to help fund the improvements to the play area at East Park Farm.

We’re still discussing the plans with proposed playground contractors and will continue to update on progress through our social media and website.

The resurfacing of the Village Hall car park was completed on Friday evening (1st April), ready for our weekend bookings!

We’ve even been able to fit in an extra disabled parking bay.

Thank you to Berkshire Asphalt for getting the car park levelled, resurfaced and repainted in just 3 days!

Thank you also to all our Hall users and neighbours for their patience and understanding during the works.

👩‍🎨 Calling All Young Artists!🧑‍🎨

Could you design a poster to help discourage littering at the Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) at East Park Farm?

Recently we have seen an increase in littering at the MUGA and we are calling on you to create a poster with a catchy slogan to help reduce this.

One winner from each category will have their poster turned into a sign to be posted on the MUGA perimeter fence.

There will be two age categories:

🎨 11 years and under

🎨 12-18 years

Posters need to be A4 size and should include:

🎨 Artwork and a catchy slogan

🎨 Name and age of the artist on the rear of the poster

🎨Contact email address and/or phone number for the artist’s parent or guardian on the rear

Posters can be handed in to the Charvil Parish Council Stand at the Village Fete on Sunday 7th September or posted through the letter box on the main doors at the Village Hall by Saturday 6th September.
