🏘 Providing the Right Types of Housing 🏘
The next theme in our Neighbourhood Plan as we lead up the Referendum on Thursday 7th May:
🏘 Providing the Right Types of Housing
The plan recognises that Charvil’s housing stock is dominated by larger family homes. While these remain important, the plan encourages a wider mix of housing types in future developments.
This includes smaller homes, flats and more affordable housing options. The intention is to make it easier for younger people, first-time buyers and older residents looking to downsize to remain in the village.
Creating a broader range of housing can help support a more balanced and sustainable community.

🛝 Protecting Community Facilities🛝
Leading up to the Neighbourhood Plan on Thursday 7th May, we are looking at each of the themes contained within the Neighbourhood Plan. A huge thanks to Rob Jones, Chair of the Neighbourhood Plan for providing the key theme summaries.
⛹ Protecting Community Facilities
A key priority of the plan is safeguarding the facilities that help bring the community together. These include places such as the village hall, sports grounds, playgrounds, local shops and public houses.
The policies aim to prevent these facilities from being lost unless there is clear evidence that they are no longer needed. The plan also encourages new development to contribute to improving community infrastructure.
For residents, this helps ensure that as the population grows, the services and amenities available to the community grow with it.

🤔 What does the Neighbourhood Plan mean for residents?
The Charvil Neighbourhood Plan sets out a community-led vision for how the village should develop between now and 2040.
Its aim is to ensure that future development improves the village while protecting the qualities that residents value most.
Neighbourhood Plans give communities a formal voice in the planning system. Once adopted, the policies in the plan must be taken into account when decisions are made on planning applications within the parish.
In practical terms, this means the plan can help shape how Charvil grows—ensuring that development supports the community rather than simply adding more housing. It also ensures the Charvil gets a bigger share of the Community Infrastructure Levy the funds that developers pay that can be used to provide new facilities.
