I’m 67, married, and a proud father of two grown-up children who’ve now flown the nest. For the past 30 years we’ve lived in Charvil, and this village has shaped our family life. Although my career as a Senior Exec in the IT industry took me around the world, leading major international programmes and businesses, our life has always been firmly rooted here — supporting Colleton Primary School, helping with Scouts and Guides and spending 11 years involved with Twyford Comets FC. As many parents know, that’s about far more than the club or society; it’s about belonging, teamwork and community.

As a family, we’ve always loved the outdoors. We’ve been fortunate to experience extraordinary places and people around the world, and of course exploring the wilder, more remote parts of my homeland, Scotland. I’m a keen mountain biker, having ridden just about every local bridleway and trails over the years (albeit a bit slower these days). Also enjoying the local environment/countryside (nature reserve) for its positive environmental impact and beauty after many, mostly muddy, dog walks That connection to the countryside is a big part of why I care so much about protecting our green spaces and village character. Growth is inevitable, but it needs to be balanced, properly planned and supported by infrastructure, with long-term consequences in mind.

Charvil has been good to my family for three decades and now retired, I have the time and the desire to give more back. With the Neighbourhood Plan bringing both opportunity and responsibility, I’m looking forward to joining the experienced Parish Council team to serve residents with independence of thought and a clear focus on what matters most to our community.
