Charvil Parish Council Grants Awarded

Twice per year, Charvil Parish Council awards grants to local community groups and charities that benefit Village residents.

The recipients of the summer round of Parish Grants are:

Me2 Club

Me2 Club is an inclusion charity providing support for children and young people aged 5+ with additional needs and disabilities in the Reading and Wokingham boroughs. Their mission is to help children feel confident, independent, and included, while learning life skills and making new friends.

The Link Visiting Scheme

The Link Visiting Scheme helps older people who need friendship and support as they are experiencing loneliness and isolation. We support our ‘Link friends’ through one-to-one befriending with volunteers, and local group activities and events. We operate within the Wokingham borough and work in partnership with many other local organisations. We are one of the founding members of the ‘Friendship Alliance’.

Keep Mobile

Keep Mobile is a voluntary organisation providing transport for elderly and/or disabled people. Their mission is to help those in the Wokingham Borough and Bracknell Forest Borough areas unable to use mainstream transport (due to their disability and/or age) to reach their destination, wherever that may be, and have as much of an independent life as is possible with regard to transport.

Congratulations to our grant recipients

Village Hall Car Park Resurfacing

The car park at Charvil Village Hall is to be resurfaced this week.

The car park will be closed on the following days:

  • Wednesday 30th July
  • Thursday 31st July
  • Friday 1st August

The car park will be re-opened on Saturday 2nd August.

We have planned this work to take place on days where bookings at the Village Hall are minimal, to reduce the impact on users of our building and our neighbours.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused during these maintenance works.

Damaged bus shelter on old bath rd

Bus Shelter Damaged

Appeal for Information

Sometime between lunchtime on Sunday 22nd June and lunchtime on Tuesday 24th June, the bus shelter on Old Bath Rd was damaged.

Did you see anything?

We believe the shelter may have been struck by a vehicle, which has bent the frame. While the shelter is not considered to be dangerous, it is likely that it will need to be replaced.

We will be reporting this damage to the police and our insurers, but would appreciate any further information on how the damage occurred.

If you have any information, please contact the Parish Clerk
